Centrioles do not always form microtubule organizing centrosomes. We discovered that they are able to move directly along the microtubule network as shown in this video. Yellow arrow points to the centriole. 

In addition to live cell imaging, our lab reconstitutes the intracellular transport machinery in vitro, taking movies like this one. Here we see the motor protein Kinesin (Green) and the centriole protein PLP (Red) moving together on microtubules (Blue).
